“Finding and elevating the beauty in simple objects is my mission. As in my farm animal paintings, I look for an eloquence in my still life paintings. Using everyday produce whether it be vegetables, fruit or eggs and pair them with nearly equally perfect manmade objects of beauty. The marriage of the two in design, lighting and color should not only be organic but harmonious and soothing to the viewer. The great philosopher and poet Rumi put it well when he wrote ‘Every object, every being, is a jar full of delight.’ It is just for us to reveal and discover this.”
Leslie Peck lives in the quaint community and village of Greenwich NY in Washington County. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY then moved to NYC and received a BFA in NYC at the Fashion Institute of Technology. In her Junior year Leslie was able to study in Florence, Italy and upon graduation went back for an apprenticeship with a master painter in Rome. After returning to NYC she then enjoyed well over two decades of freelance work painting mainly romance novel covers for publishers. Now, after marrying then moving to upstate New York and raising three wonderful children, she has switched gears to painting what surrounds her… the beautiful farms, the noble farmers and their sublime animals along with portraiture, still lifes, and most recently a new series with taxidermy subjects.
